A Love Letter to Your Body, As You Are

June 30, 2026

A Love Letter to Your Body, As You Are:

A Monthly Reflection

  • Love is speaking to your body with kindness, even when you feel dissatisfied with how it looks.
  • Love is choosing care over criticism when thoughts about weight and appearance arise.
  • Love is understanding that your body is shaped by more than effort, and meeting it with compassion.
  • Love is nourishing, resting, and supporting your body as it is, not only as you wish it to be.
  • Love is remaining with yourself, in this body, and allowing that presence to guide how you care for it.

There are many ways we are taught to relate to our body. Through numbers, expectations, comparisons, and quiet messages about what should be different. Over time, these messages can become internalized, shaping how you see yourself and how you speak to your body in everyday moments. A recent New York Times article on the rise of weight-loss medications highlights how body weight is influenced by complex biological and environmental factors, inviting a shift away from simple narratives of control or blame.

Your body is not something separate from you. It is where you live your life. Your body carries you through your days and holds both strain and strength at the same time. When you begin to notice this more closely, the relationship becomes less about appearance and more about connection.

Understanding that weight and shape are influenced by many factors, including biology, environment, and lived experience. When this is acknowledged, it becomes easier to release the habit of blame and to meet your body with more open and compassionate awareness.

Body appreciation grows in small, consistent ways. It is present when you recognize what your body allows you to do, when you take a moment to breathe deeply, when you rest without guilt, or when you choose to care for yourself in a way that supports your well-being. This appreciation supports not only mental well-being, but also a deeper, more respectful relationship with the body.

Your body has been with you through every experience you have lived. To love with body presence is to meet yourself with care, not only when life feels easy, but especially when it does not.
