Justice as Awareness in Action, A Free Virtual Talk & Community Discussion
Wednesday, September 24, 2025 7:00-9:00pm Eastern Time
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 7–9 pm ET, I will be offering a free virtual talk on Justice as Awareness in Action. The program is free and co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania Gestalt Institute, the Mariah Fenton Gladis Foundation, the Social Justice Initiative, and the Center for Courage & Renewal. Together, we will explore the meaning of justice, not as an abstract ideal, but as a lived practice of mindfulness, compassion, and presence.
This gathering will include the showing of my talk on justice presented earlier this year for Upaya Zen Center, followed by a live discussion. This is an invitation to reflect on how we can embody justice in our daily lives, in our communities, and in the wider world.
The heart of justice is remembering that we are bound together, that the well-being of one is inseparable from the well-being of all. Awareness in action is the practice of refusing numbness or distraction and instead turning toward our deeply held values and beliefs. It is noticing where harm has been normalized and choosing, in small and steady ways, to live differently, toward greater compassion, peace, and understanding.
This is a free virtual event. To attend, please register by September 21 at valeriejusticetalk@gmail.com.
